That’s right. If the lowest form of race car is a LeMons car, then surely the second lowest form is a sport four circle track car. And that’s what I’m going to see tomorrow.

Kinja'd!!!

Its an 80 Celica with a 22R and a stick. Caged, set up for my local circle track, Seekonk Speedway. It looks like its pretty straight, but it’ll at least need a new head because the car was overheated in the last race it ran. I’m also told the driver was a fairly large gentleman like myself, so the seat might fit me/force me to lose a little weight instead of a lot of it.

For the money ($1000/bo, so $700 to me) it looks like a pretty decent little race car. I don’t think it’ll be super quick, lots of guys run Integras and Eclipses now at that track so a 22R might not be the best, but I don’t care much about that. I’ve been trying to get a race car for years, and this looks like about the best shot I’ve had.

What do you malcontents think?

I would rank Lemons above circle track. A handful of them have made it onto lemons circuits and none have done great.

Looks like a blast! I’ve done a bit of street stock racing on iRacing and really want to try it for real.

You may be right about that.

Ci rcle track can be some fantastic racing. I'd say go for it although it will be slow.

There’s a guy up the road from me that has a VW Rabbit he races in the same class, I can’t imagine that would be a ton quicker than the Celica. As long as I’m competitive with somebody, that’s all I care about...I don’t need to win (yet).

Congrats! There’s plenty of parts out there to keep it going. Thats the same rear end thats in every Legends + most dwarfcars=same with the front end parts.

Best I advice I could give-make sure the seat fits you well. The only time I ever go hurt in a race car was in someone else’s car with a seat that was too big. Two cars in front of me spun-I pitched it sideways-and the car behind me did the same. We h it nerf bar to nerfbar. No mar k s on the car but my ribs hurt for a week. I got thrown one side of the seat to the other. After that lesson I won’t climb in a car i don’t fit snug in.

Good call on the seat. The owner told me the current driver was 6 foot 280 lbs, and I’m a little bigger than that, but he had some room in the seat...it would be real lucky if it fits me, haha.

If you aren’t going to be in it this year, swap meet season is coming soon. Thompson is the best in the area.

At least you can swap out a seat, I had to buy an entirely new car because I didn’t fit in my Formula Ford!

If you do get a bigger seat, to get a really good fit one idea is to use 2-part packing foam and a trash bag to mold the seat to your back. It’s what we do in formula cars (well, most teams use the foam beads and resin but the foam is a budget substitute) and I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work on one of those.
